The upper ocean thermal structure in this region has been linked to rapid intensification of tropical cyclones, and to the seasonal Atlantic hurricane activity. However, there are only few (<300) upper ocean thermal observations carried out per year in this region.  The goal of this work is to enhance our understanding of air-sea interaction processes during hurricane force wind events. In order to accomplish this goal, the network of hurricane underwater gliders was implemented to assess the impact of hurricane force winds on upper ocean density structure, and assess the impact of ocean profile data from underwater gliders in hurricane intensity forecasts.\n\ncdm_data_type = TrajectoryProfile\nVARIABLES:\ntrajectory (Trajectory Name)\nwmo_id\nprofile_id\ntime (Profile Time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlatitude (Profile Latitude, degrees_north)\nlongitude (Profile Longitude, degrees_east)\ndepth (m)\ncond_orig (Conductivity, S m-1)\nconductivity (Sea Water Electrical Conductivity, S m-1)\ncrs (http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/4326)\ndensity (Sea Water Density, kg m-3)\ndr_latitude (Dead-Reckoned Latitude, degree_north)\ndr_longitude (Dead-Reckoned Latitude, degree_east)\ndtime (Time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\neng_head (radians)\neng_pitchAng (radians)\n... These gliders were provided and operated by the Naval Oceanographic Office (NAVOCEANO) and are part of a larger effort to deploy and operate over 100 gliders simultaneously. Data collected by these Littoral Battlespace Sensing (LBS) gliders is assimilated for use in underwater ocean forecasts that support a wide range of naval operations. The glider was deployed in the Gulf of Mexico.\n\ncdm_data_type = TrajectoryProfile\nVARIABLES:\ntrajectory (Trajectory Name)\nwmo_id\nprofile_id\ntime (Profile Time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\nlatitude (Profile Latitude, degrees_north)\nlongitude (Profile Longitude, degrees_east)\ndepth (m)\nc_fin (Commanded Fin Position, radians)\ncond_orig (Conductivity, S m-1)\nconductivity (Sea Water Electrical Conductivity, S m-1)\ncrs (http://www.opengis.net/def/crs/EPSG/0/4326)\ndensity (Sea Water Density, kg m-3)\ndr_latitude (Dead-Reckoned Latitude, degree_north)\ndr_longitude (Dead-Reckoned Latitude, degree_east)\ndtime (Time, seconds since 1970-01-01T00:00:00Z)\neng_head (radians)\neng_pitchAng (radians)\neng_rollAng (radians)\ninstrument_ctd (CTD Metadata, 1)\nlat_uv (Depth-averaged Latitude, degrees_north)\nlon_uv (Depth-averaged Longitude, degrees_east)\n...
